Devil Ray Sound Works
Devil Ray Sound Works focuses on recording prepared solo instruments and household objects, turning unexpected sounds into instruments that can be customized and performed. Inspired by her experiences sampling for her own film music, composer and music editor Belle Sager created Devil Ray Sound Works with a goal of sharing her sonic explorations with other composers and music creators.
Detune Piano
Created by recording a piano during various stages of the tuning process, Detune Piano explores the creative possibilities of detuning and tuning a piano in real time.

The process consisted of several stages of recording, beginning with a piano that was 25 cents flat. It was then partially tuned, recorded again, tuned some more, and recorded again.
This process was repeated until the instrument was perfectly in tune, for a total of up to six layers per note.

This library includes 5 different “detune modes” which allow the performer to choose how they detune the instrument. Pick from velocity, the mod wheel, pitch bend wheel, an LFO, or random chance to creatively control the tuning while playing. The detune modes and the adjustable ADSR envelope settings make the Detune Piano great for any situation.
